Jim Rizzo

Yoga had been suggested to me over the years as something I should try. I always laughed it off as something girls do or something I would never be able to do because I'm overweight and not at all flexible. Fast forward to now. I recently finished the 40 day Bikram yoga challenge. I had never tried any type of yoga prior to day 1 of the challenge. I felt like death the first day I walked into the hot room. When I walked out, I felt energized.

The 40 day challenge has made me more flexible. It increased strength in my core (I am actually able to do a sit-up without assistance from my legs being held down!). It has increased strength in my legs, back, and arms. It has eliminated carpal tunnel pain I suffer from working at a computer for 8 hours each day, and it has even eliminated much of my arthritis pain. Most importantly, I have seen my waist and gut shrink and my weight drop.

The class is not easy, but it's not quite as difficult as I would have imagined. Because of the design of the class, it is perfect for every type of person, from those who are not at all flexible, like myself, to the most flexible people. It's perfect for beginners and experts. I never thought yoga would do all it has done for me. It has done more for me in 40 days than going to a gym 4 days a week for 6 months has ever done. And the Boiler House team made a complete newbie feel welcome and encouraged. I'm hooked. See you on the mat!

Katie Stout

Bikram yoga kicked my butt hard the first several times I attempted the 90-minute torture chamber. I've always loved heat though, and the hot yoga room in my hometown Oswego, NY provided a beautiful and loving space to fall into a practice. A good stretch and sweat became something I enjoyed, then began to crave as the winter months rolled in. The hot room was a comfort, like a cup of hot chocolate. Bikram yoga helps to calm and unite my mind, my body, and my spirit. It keeps me healthy.

Regular practice keeps me pain free. Bikram yoga healed a slipped disc injury that could not be cured with chiropractic alone. I had settled with the pain in my body, believing the state I was in to be as good as I could expect. But the more I practiced Bikram yoga, the more old scars of old injuries were gradually peeling away. My range of motion in my back has vastly improved since beginning my practice, and largely due to my cousin Derek Stout's teaching. His yoga instruction has helped me bring my body back into proper alignment. I'm proud of his accomplishment in opening this beautiful studio to serve Providence. The hot room is gorgeous! Thanks, Derek, for giving us a space to heal ourselves.

Namaste :)
